Greater Phoenix is comprised of 17 cities which contain about
3,200,000 people. We have a dry desert climate which is blessed with water from the Salt River Project and Central Arizona Project. We have clear days as the sun shines 89% of the time. The weather is wonderful for 9 months and then we stay near the air conditioning or plan activities
in the morning for 3 months (June 15 - September 15).
Advanced Education: Arizona State University, Grand Canyon University, ASU West, American Graduate School of International Management, and 11 community colleges.
Major League Teams: Phoenix Suns (NBA), Arizona Cardinals (NFL), Arizona Rattlers (Arena Football), Arizona Diamondbacks (MLB), Phoenix Coyotes (NHL), Mercury (WNBA), Sandsharks (Soccer), Phoenix International Raceway, Spring and Fall Baseball.
Golf: Over 150 golf courses.
Performing Arts: Phoenix Symphony, Grady Gammage, Blockbuster, Orpheum Theatre, Herberger Theater Center, Scottsdale Center for the Arts, and many other fine theatres.
Area Attractions: Phoenix Art Museum, Phoenix Zoo, the Heard Museum, Desert Botanical Garden, Arizona Science Center, and many smaller museums. There also is a Turf Paradise (horse racing) and Phoenix Greyhound Track.
Lakes: Arizona has over 105 lakes for boating and fishing, Lake Pleasant is large (under an hour) and Saguaro Lake (over an hour) are the two closest.
Skiing: Flagstaff's Snowbowl (2+ hours from Phoenix) and Sunrise in the White Mountains (3.5+ hours from Phoenix) are the best.
Property tax: Usually average less than 1% of the value.
Housing: The median is under
$130,000 for resale and over $165,000 for new. (Obviously size, area and features can change this considerably.)
Employment: Our employment rate has been excellent thanks to the likes of Motorola, Allied Signal, American Express, Intel, America West, Honeywell, McDonald Douglas, AETNA and USAA Insurance.
